Taskade's 2025 UI & UX (New Layout): A Call for Customisation and Improved Navigation
universaldesignz
I’m not particularly fond of the new Taskade layout for the UI & UX 2025. How many of you genuinely like it? I found the list view much easier for managing projects. Could we consider reinstating it? The new layout has become more click-intensive and cumbersome to manoeuvre from one project to another.
Additionally, I’d like to hear from other users about their thoughts and experiences with both the new and old layouts, including the menu and chat features. It would be beneficial if we were allowed to customise the layout to better meet our individual needs.
Why not keep a beta version before rolling out, or even show a prototype, so users can try things and say what works? That would help the team focus their efforts more productively on solutions that suit everyone.

TASKade. Back to the roots.

One thing that taskade should do REALLY well is: TASKs.
The new UI is many steps backwards UX-wise.
But since every month new AI features come to it and clutter my view, task management has become more and more of a complicated mess. It now feels like a task-management's Frankenstein's Monster.
These URGENT points need to be considered ASAP:
- Logical workflows. There are too many ••• - Menus with all different contents. (For example I should be able to complete a project also from within the project.) There should always be only ONE ••• - Menu visible. The other menu should have another icon. If you run out of icons it's a very clear sign that you have far too many menus.
- Merge AI interfaces, not task interfaces. With AI you need to prompt, so it's always a lot of work to do. But task management should be straight forward. For example: Creating a project has become a pain in the ass. Put aside that the german translation is horrible, You click on "Start from scratch". Start with what? Why can't this button be named what it is "+ New empty project". And then NO dropdown. Why? because if you want to change the format you can always click in the top bar. So it's still 2 clicks. But I 90% of the time work with lists and now have to click twice instead of once like in previous versions. The buttons should be named:
[ +* New project with AI ] [ + New empty project ] [ ꜜ Import project ]
- Keep your clients in mind. Often used sidebars in text-heave contexts should NEVER EVER swipe in from left and move content in a LTR country.
- The first view if you click on your workspace and then see the project overview is bad UI with the worst UX I've seen in a long time.
Always ask what the customer wants to achieve if he/she click on something. Obviously see all the Folders (now called Apps) in the workspace. But what happens here? You get a overly huge animated "Do something with AI please" interface and then way too large tiles for the Apps. What you should do is:
a) Make the AI textbox one line. If the customer clicks on it it can expand and cover the other apps (because then the customer clearly want's to give input into the AI)
b) offer a List view where one can sort the apps alphabetically and from time created or last updated
c) if you need tiles always make the tiles so large that it makes sense.
And these are only the most important 4 points... there's plenty more.

The new UI is many steps backwards UX-wise.
It has become even less logical, Complete actions for projects still are hard to trigger, there are too many ••• - Menus with all different contents.
The sidebars should always pull in from the right side in LTR reading countries. It's totally annoying to see all content things shifting.
The name is TASKade. it has TASK in it. And task management becomes more and more a mess...

Hi Taskade,
Could you please revert to the previous view with workspaces next to the project? That layout supports a much smoother workflow. Having a clear overview is essential, and the new layout is making it harder to manage.
Thanks so much!

Hey all, I agree with most of the comments here. While Genesis was described as the ultimate implementation of Taskade's long term vision, it feels much more like a rushed pivot self-imposed through the vibe-coding hype so far.
Why this radical change? I don't recall something like Genesis being top of the required features list at any point in time over the past months. Instead, the flywheel of user requests / team shipping new and truly impacting, useful features was running full steam but there's a risk that it is broken now...
Ultimately, it is effectively critical for long time users to understand where we go from there because ultimately Taskade won't be able to become everything for everyone. A great AI/agent-powered project management platform might be all we need...

I had a much longer way I saying this but it was summarized thus:
" I do see how having that box [the text entry box at the top of the screen] might indicate that users need to start from there. Maybe it's too disruptive of a call to action."
Clarification: Add notice to users that they do not
have
to enter text in the box to create a new space/folder, they can just click +New apppaultony
I agree with you. The thing is that while its nice to see a lot of activity on the dev side, these changes are really messing up with my flow. At least put a beta out and then take it from there. Also, everything is so confusing now. We get used to one naming convention, and then it all changes again. Now we have something called apps?

I'm happy everyone feels this way. I think the new functionality is cool and promising but yeah I don't know if I can get over my folders being called apps. And definitely need to see project in list when you start up the tool. I think it would be nice to hear a definitive statement about taskades visison At this point because the implication with Genesis is that projects are going to be used as data storage for "apps" and that would fundamentally change the development priorities - ie, making using projects directly by users a robust and productive experience. Development is going to shift to making the app creation smooth. So the question is is taskade going to actually continue to be an effective task management a d project management tool or just Lovable lite. And competing with lovables of the world I don't think is a great idea

Many arguments have been mentioned
- Self-discovery of Taskade
- Catastrophe in clarity
- Why apps? What is the focus?
- Usability has been lost
Please make timely changes. just want to mention it as well.
I believe users have simply used it as a project management tool and little AI. Taskade has the focus on AI. Now the users should be made aware of it.
I also use it as a project management tool, but also to sort things out. Sometimes I share something.
That is its strength.
It was a real shock for me when suddenly "Apps" instead "Projects" appeared everywhere. Even a new project is now called "Create App."
They could reintroduce the list and place the AI window to the right of it. That at least wouldn't be so disruptive.
"Please redesign the current concept!"

Hey - i totally agree. I feel like every few months taksade tries to become a new thing... this bums me out a but as a long time user. To see a company that still tries to fogure.out what it's trying to be or throwing darts at a dartboard to see what sticks. This new "build an app" totally threw me off - I was like wtf... and even after trying it, it took so much time to do a simple.website... I liek taskade for its project managememt capabilities - a simple Notion - not complicated, or overcomplicsted - thats our USP - not some magic new AI trend thats worthless in couple.of months

Terrible New Home Page
dr_graham
Hello. I really don't like the new home page. To be productive, the first thing I should see is my projects. Instead, I see a huge box where I can build an app! I need to pan down or click buttons to get into my projects. This is also very difficult for guests to understand. They think they are being invited to a project but instead are faced with "Build your App". Also, could I ask that you try not to update the basic interface too often. We had to make a video so that guests would understand how to use Taskade - it's not intuitive at all for non-users and finding a shared project takes time out of busy people's lives! Whenever the interface changes, we need to redo the video - it's a bit annoying. You are one of the best around in terms of continuously updating and I appreciate you for that - there are so many developers/founders who do nothing to improve their apps. However, can you be a bit more careful about changes such as those mentioned here. Thank you.
