DELETE /projects/{projectId}/tasks/{taskId} doesn't return item in response
planned
yolk
A small quirk between documentation and an endpoint I was playing with, I didn't do a deep investigation to see if this difference occurs for all
DELETE
routesThe
DELETE /projects/{projectId}/tasks/{taskId}
doesn't return the expanded item
in response, it'll return{
"ok": true,
"item": null
}
screenshots are of the expected response shape from the OpenAPI Playground at https://www.taskade.com/api/documentation/static/index.html#/Task/taskDelete and https://developers.taskade.com/docs/api/tasks gitbook

You are right to call this out — returning the deleted item in the response body is a REST convention that many APIs follow, and the gap between documentation and actual behavior is a real friction point for API consumers.
The current response of just {"ok": true} is minimal and makes it harder to confirm exactly what was deleted, especially if you want to log or audit the deleted item on the client side. A consistent pattern would be to return the full item (or at minimum its ID and key metadata) in the response body on DELETE.
We have noted this alongside the other API consistency improvements being tracked. For builders who need to audit deletions today, the recommended pattern is to fetch the task before deletion and store it client-side.
Thanks for checking carefully and reporting the discrepancy rather than just working around it. This kind of API audit feedback is exactly what helps us build a more predictable developer experience. We will tackle these consistency issues in an upcoming API pass!
